DROUTH IS SERIOUS.

Private Water Supply at Wellington Is Shut Off.

Wellington, Kan., Oct. 8.--The drouth has necessitated the water company serving notice that Saturday morning private consumers will have their water supply cut off because of the scarcity of water in Slate creek. The creek is about empty, and this action is necessary to protect the city in case of fire. Persons who have been depending on their hydrants for water will have to look to other sources until it rains. There is likely to be some trouble experienced in securing water from wells, etc., as many of them are beginning to show signs of going dry. The situation is getting extremely serious with no prospects of immediate relief.
